About The Hive to offer $10 All You Can Play arcade games, free parking
BIRMINGHAM—The Hive is rebooting its arcade in Five Points South. The social house plans to add a slew of games and offer patrons an all you can play experience for $10, starting Aug. 7.
“COVID had a disproportionate impact here, because so much of our space is linked to friend groups, date nights, private events, things like that,” said Chris Brown, operations manager for The Hive. “Now that things are picking back up, we’re bringing back popular arcade games and adding some new ones.”
Air hockey, basketball, skee ball, and full size shooting and racing games will be available to guests for a new flat fee. Customers can purchase their bracelet from the bar and then play in the arcade area as much as they’d like.
The local favorite, duckpin bowling, will also still be available. It’s a different user experience, and will remain $5 per person per game.
Brown said The Hive is also revamping its menu and providing designated parking spaces for patrons in a surface lot less than a block away.
“Customers have had some trouble finding and using the parking deck nearby, so we decided to lock down our own parking specifically for our staff and patrons,” Brown said. “I think it’ll be a huge relief for customers to know where to park when they come here and not have to drive around Five Points looking for a street spot.”
The Hive’s parking lot is Lot 77 and is located at 921 19th St S, Birmingham, AL 35205. These spaces will be available for The Hive customers from 6 p.m. to close during the week and all day on weekends, when The Hive offers brunch and hosts day parties.
The new menu will feature items such as Crunchy Curry Cauliflower with Tomato Chutney, Pitmaster Burger, and wings, and Brown said they’ll be keeping customer favorites, like the Wontachos and Crispy Brussels.
“We know how important a gratifying meal is in Birmingham, and we’re going to continue delivering that as part of the experience here,” Brown said. “At The Hive, we make the majority of our food from scratch, which tastes better and actually helps keep costs down for us and the customer. We’re really excited to bring in more burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers that are shareable, delicious, and won't break the bank.”
The Hive is also updating its brunch menu, making those items available Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Hive will be open for brunch Aug. 1 and will be closed for the week at 4 p.m. The Hive will reopen, complete with arcade games and a new layout Aug. 7 at 11 a.m.
