Failing Schools: Alabama Department Of Education Releases List

The Alabama Department of Education released its list of failing schools in the state. Here are the schools in the area that made the list.

MONTGOMERY, AL — The Alabama Department of Education this week released its list of failing schools in the state, as required by the Alabama Accountability Act. Unfortunately, several of those schools are in the Birmingham metro area.

Students at schools on the list are allowed to transfer to non-failing public or private schools with their families being eligible for a tax credit to help pay for tuition.

In the Birmingham City school system, 16 schools made the list, the most of any system in the state.
