BIRMINGHAM, AL — While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in Alabama, school systems are scrambling to figure out what to do about the start of the coming academic year, which was one of the issues covered by Patch this past week, along with some breaking news from around the state.

One of those breaking stories involved the passing of a Birmingham music legend in National Jazz Hall of Fame bassist Cleve Eaton.
