Jefferson County Adds 214 New COVID-19 Cases, State Tops 51K
Alabama has confirmed more than 51,000 cases of COVID-19, with Jefferson County leading the way.
MONTGOMERY, AL — Jefferson County continues to lead all counties in Alabama in total COVID-19 cases, and added to that total Saturday, reporting 214 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours. Jefferson County's total of 6,433 cases is at least 1,000 more than any other county.
Alabama has confirmed 51,294 cases since the pandemic began, with 16,339 of those cases diagnosed in the last 14 days. Alabama has reported nearly 9,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last week alone.
As of Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 1,086 deaths from the virus, with more than 1,200 patients hospitalized with COVID-19.

Jefferson, Madison and Mobile counties each had triple-digit additions to their COVID-19 case total in the last 24 hours.

The counties with the most new cases Saturday:
- Jefferson County: 214 new cases; 6,433 total
- Madison County: 136 new cases; 2,119 total
- Mobile County: 128 new cases; 4,753 total
- Shelby County: 85 new cases; 1,642 total
- DeKalb County: 77 new cases; 941 total
