KISS Announces Birmingham Concert On Final Tour

For what is said to be the band's final tour, KISS will play in Birmingham April 13.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham is expected to welcome one of the most successful and iconic rock and roll bands of all time in April, as KISS announced the Magic City will be a stop on what most experts think is the band's final tour. If it is, Birmingham will be the site of the band's last-ever live performance.

According to a report by Alabama Media Group, a publicist for the band announced 44 dates for the “End of the Road” tour in the United States and Canada, starting on Jan. 31 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, and ending April 13 at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham.

Tickets for the Birmingham show go on sale Friday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. CT via Live Nation/Ticketmaster, according to promoter Red Mountain Entertainment. Prices range from $29.50 to $250, the promoter said. According to the Ticketmaster website, some tickets will be priced as high as $1,020, presumably for VIP packages. A round of pre-sales starts on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT. and runs through Thursday at 10 p.m. CT.

KISS traces its roots to Wicked Lester, a New York-based rock and roll band led by co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Unhappy with the direction of Wicked Lester, Simmons and Stanley part ways with the other members in 1972 after Epic Records rejected an album recorded by the group. After picking up drummer Peter Criss and guitarist Ace Frehley, the band rocked through the 1970s and achieved a level of popularity seen by only the elite musicians of all time.

KISS is one of the highest-grossing music acts of all time. KISS has performed in the Birmingham area several times over the years, and made its last appearance here in 2012 at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre, on a bill with Motley Crue. The band performed at the BJCC arena in 2009 on its '"Alive 35″ tour, and played a high-voltage set at the arena in 2000, on its first farewell tour.
