JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — The prime suspect in the August 26 shooting death of 22-year-old Brandon Thomas of Dora has been arrested. Dalen Eliase Gaines of Jasper was taken into custody Sunday by Walker County Sheriff's deputies.

Thomas was shot and killed while inside his home in the 6500 Block of Snowville Brent Road in Dora. Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Thomas was in his kitchen cooking when, according to witnesses, multiple shots were fired and then a vehicle sped away from the scene.

After the investigation determined that Gaines was the prime suspect in the shooting, Walker County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a citizen that Gaines had been located in Jasper. Money said Walker County Deputies located Gaines and took him into custody without incident.
