Man Shot To Death In Birmingham's Kingston Neighborhood

Birmingham police are investigating a homicide Monday in Birmingham's Kingston community.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The second homicide in Birmingham of the new year occurred less than 24 hours after the first, as Birmingham police are investigating a deadly shooting Monday in the Kingston housing community.

The latest incident occurred at about 11:15 a.m. Monday in the 4400 block of 9th Avenue North. Sgt. Johnny Williams of the Birmingham PD said officers located one person unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car. Birmingham Fire and Rescue reported to the scene to render treatment, but the victim was pronounced dead prior to being transported to the hospital.

Investigators found that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with three people before he was able to make his way to his car. Investigators also found that one suspect fired into the victim’s vehicle before he could drive away, Williams said.

There are no suspects in custody.
