New Coronavirus Testing Sites Opening In Birmingham
Two companies announced they will offer curbside and drive-thru coronavirus testing for interested patients.
BIRMINGHAM, AL—Assurance Scientific Laboratories has teamed with Church of the Highlands and Christ Health Center to expand capacity for coronavirus testing. Another company announced it will also begin testing children and young adults.
According to Assurance Scientific Laboratories, its drive-thru testing sites have been moved to the Church of the Highlands Grandview Campus located at 3660 Grandview Parkway in Birmingham to better serve patients. This will open daily from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. beginning Tuesday, March 17.
Officials with Assurance Scientific Labs say they will not have coronavirus drive-thru testing at either of their facilities on Acton Road in Vestavia or Memorial Drive in Bessemer moving forward.

Urgent Care for Children is now offering to perform curbside COVID-19 testing, which will be sent to a third party lab and return results typically within 24 hours. The testing is for patients up to 21 years of age.
"If you plan to be seen at one of our locations and consider your child at high risk due to exposure or travel history, do call in advance so the healthcare providers can take necessary steps to keep others from getting exposed or infected," Urgent Care for Children said on its website.
