New Downtown Farmers Market Will Open This Summer
Birmingham received a Healthy Food Financing Program Grant to help establish a farmers market at the new intermodal facility.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A new farmers market will open in front of the MAX Transit intermodal facility this summer. The city is looking to partner with Alabama and Jefferson County farmers' markets and independent farmers to supply produce.
The announcement regarding the market was made in April by the mayor's office after the city received a $143,000 Healthy Food Financing Program Grant to fund the market.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs and the city of Birmingham are contributing $50,000 each for the project.
