Police Investigating East Birmingham Homicide

Birmingham police are investigating the city's third homicide in the last three days.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating the city's third homicide in the last three days. The latest deadly shooting occurred just after 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 7100 block of 2nd Avenue South.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said at least seven shots were reported fired at the location, and officers arrived to find the victim dead on the scene in an alley.

Mauldin said no suspects are in custody. This is Birmingham’s 63rd homicide investigation of 2020, and the third in as many days.

Two homicides occurred in Birmingham over the weekend, claiming the lives of a Birmingham man and a Gadsden woman.
