Roy Moore Accuser Sues For Defamation
Leigh Corfman, who accused Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct, is suing Moore for defamation.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, AL - A woman who accused former Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual misconduct is now suing the Republican politician for defamation. Leigh Corfman, who said Moore pursued her romantically and sexually when she was 14 years old and he was in his 30s, said she does not want monetary compensation beyond her attorney's fees, but does want a court-enforced ban on him or his campaign publicly attacking her again.
The Washington Post reported Thursday that Corfman’s lawsuit cites numerous negative comments made by Moore and five top campaign allies, including campaign manager Rich Hobson, who announced Wednesday that he is running for Congress. Corfman said in a statement that the suit seeks “to do what I could not do as a 14-year-old — hold Mr. Moore and those who enable him accountable.”
Corfman came forward on November 9 with allegations against then-candidate Moore, which was the first of up to nine different allegations against the former judge. Moore and his campaign managers denied the allegations, claiming they were politically motivated and lacked merit, even pointing out what they perceived as holes in Corfman's story.

Moore lost his bid for the U.S. Senate to Democrat Doug Jones December 12. Jones was sworn in Wednesday, and Moore has never conceded the election to Jones, even going so far as to file a lawsuit to try to block the certification of the election. Moore still has an active funding campaign to refute the election.
