Shipt Now Delivering Groceries From Winn Dixie

Birmingham's grocery delivery business, Shipt, has added Winn Dixie stores to its delivery list.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham-based grocery delivery company Shipt announced today that it will begin delivering for Birmingham residents from Winn Dixie stores. The company already has agreements with Piggly Wiggly, Publix, Whole Foods and Western Markets. It also works with a number of other stores in other markets.

The agreement comes after Southeastern Grocers, the parent company for Winn-Dixie grocery stores, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and the announcement that nearly 100 stores will close. Winn-Dixie operates in five Southeastern states in the U.S, including Alabama.

Shipt was acquired by Target in December last year in a $550 million deal. Shipt is one of Birmingham's most well-known startups, and has been one of Birmingham's fastest growing companies since its founding in 2014, expanding to over 70 different cities.
