Shipt To Stamp Its Name On Birmingham's Tallest Building
Shipt, one of Birmingham's fastest growing companies, will anchor the Wells Fargo building downtown.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham's tallest building, the Wells Fargo Tower, will don a new name. Grocery delivery company Shipt, which has been touted as one of Birmingham's fastest growing companies, will anchor the 34-story building when renovations to the building are complete in 2020.
Renovations will begin soon on Shipt’s space in the tower in addition to updates to the building’s lobby and common areas that will better position it as a modern work space for Birmingham’s rising tech ecosystem. In 2020, the Shipt logo will be installed on top of the tower. Shipt will also maintain its current office space in the John Hand Building.
"The city of Birmingham has been a crucial part of Shipt’s success. We are thrilled to expand our team and reside in two beautiful, iconic buildings in downtown Birmingham,” Jeffrey Smith, senior vice president of Shipt, said in a statement. “Shipt has a very bright future and the Shipt Tower will be a great second home for our rapidly growing team.”

Built in 1986 as the corporate headquarters for SouthTrust Corporation, the building was originally known as the SouthTrust Tower until 2005 when SouthTrust completed its merger with Wachovia, and was known as the Wachovia Tower. It became the Wells Fargo Tower in September 2010 when Wells Fargo completed its purchase of Wachovia and a new logo was placed atop the building.
The building currently serves as a regional headquarters for Wells Fargo, who is the second largest tenant, the largest being law firm Burr & Forman. It is also home to the Birmingham office of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz and Deloitte.
