Shooting In Avondale Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

Birmingham police are investigating a fatal shooting Monday in the Tom Brown Village housing community.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham police are investigating a shooting Monday afternoon that left one person dead and another injured. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Messer-Airport Highway in the Tom Brown Village housing community.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers found two people shot when they arrived at the scene. One was taken to UAB Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The other, who is the person of interest in the shooting, was taken to St. Vincent's East.
