Urgent Care For Children Opens First Pediatric Clinic In Birmingham

New pediatric urgent care clinic opening this weekend is the first in Jefferson County.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Urgent Care for Children, a new pediatric urgent care clinic, is opening its first location in Birmingham this weekend. Located off Highway 280 near Grandview Medical Center, UCC is the first pediatric-specific urgent care clinic in Jefferson County. The clinic will be staffed with full-time pediatricians and nurse practitioners seven days a week, serving patients up to 21 years of age.

The clinic will offer quality urgent care while providing minimal wait times. The new facility features multiple exam rooms and comfortable play and seating areas, and will provide a full range of health services, including X-ray and laboratory facilities. The clinic hours are Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Our goal is to be the first-choice provider for pediatric urgent care when our patients’ primary pediatrician is not available,” said Dr. Amrik Walia, UCC co-founder. “We will provide peace of mind for parents while reducing the costs of providing such health care through emergency room visits or other forms of care.”

No appointments are necessary at UCC, and the clinic offers a convenient “save your spot” feature on its website to reduce wait times.

“‘Less Waiting. Quality Care.’ is our motto,” said Dr. Maria Myers, one of the pediatricians in the UCC group. “We are not trying to replace the role of our patients’ primary pediatricians, but instead to supplement the care kids receive outside standard medical practice hours so families have a reliable alternative to an emergency room visit.”
