Victims Whose Granddaughter Led Police To Their Bodies Identified

After police were led to a bloody crime scene by a young girl, the identities of the murder victims have been identified.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The identities of two people slain in east Birmingham have been revealed. Police were led to the couple by a young girl who was wandering the neighborhood in blood-stained clothes. The young girl is the granddaughter of the murder victims.

Birmingham police on Saturday identified the victims as Mary Holt, 67, and Joe "Steve" Holt, 68, according to a report by Alabama Media Group. Their bodies were discovered Thursday afternoon inside their house on Ninth Court Circle South.

The Birmingham Police Department received the report about the child Thursday afternoon, and when investigators arrived, they noticed the child's clothing was stained with blood. According to a report by Alabama Media Group, the child led officers to two unresponsive adults inside a home. Both adults were pronounced dead on the scene at 4:41 p.m.

A neighbor said the girl came to her door and was bloody and crying out for her grandparents but didn't say anything else. Police arrived and were led to the gruesome crime scene by the girl.

A motive has not been determined, and reports say there is no evidence of forced entry into the couple's home.
