Water Works Board Chair Convicted Of Ethics Violations

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham Water Works Board chairwoman Sherry Lewis was convicted Wednesday of two of the three ethics charges for which she was indicted in 2017.

Lewis was accused of using her position for personal gain, or for the gain of a family member, and voting on matters in which she or her family members had financial interest — including a no-show job for a family member, free meals, and other improper benefits.

Lewis will be held at Jefferson County Jail until her sentencing on Dec. 12.

Lewis was indicted along with Arcadis executive Jerry Jones is also charged with aiding and Terry Williams, owner of Global Solutions International on the same three counts.
