It was an eventful week in the Birmingham metro area, with a music festival changing venues and Birmingham's mayor courting a major airline.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The week of February 26-March 2 was certainly filled both national and local news, with the gun control debate raging on throughout the country, and the political climate becoming more and more heated. Locally, some of the national political spotlight spilled over int o the metro area, and some local news-makers created buzzes of their own. Here are five of the top stories of the past week from the Birmingham area:

March For Our Lives Event Planned For Railroad Park - Birmingham joined the fraternity of cities participating in March for our Lives, a demonstration and protest on behalf of the 17 people killed in the Parkland. Florida school shooting. The event will take place March 24 at Railroad Park.

Secret Stages Music Festival Moving To Avondale - After seven years in the downtown/Loft District, the Secret Stages Music & Arts Festival is changing venues. This year's version of the festival will take place in Avondale, due in part to failure to secure participation from some of the downtown businesses.

Mayor Randall Woodfin Asks Delta Airlines To Consider Birmingham - After the Georgia legislature voted for a bill that would prevent a decrease in fuel tax for airlines, and the state's lieutenant governor vowing to punish Delta for ending discounted flights for NRA members, Woodfin let the Atlanta-based airline know that Birmingham is waiting.

Dick's Sporting Goods And Field & Stream Stop Selling Guns To Anyone Under 21 - Dick's Sporting Goods (there are three stores in the Birmingham area) and Field & Stream stores (one in Hoover) will no longer sell guns to anyone under 21 years old, and will not sell any guns resembling assault-style weapons.

Football Star Marlon Humphrey Has To Appear In Court - Stemming from a robbery charge in Tuscaloosa back in January, former Alabama football star and Baltimore Ravens player Marlon Humphrey had to appear in a Tuscaloosa court. According to witnesses, Humphrey borrowed a mobile phone charger from an Uber driver and did not return it. The driver pressed charges.
