Judge Dismisses Marlon Humphrey Robbery Case

A judge in Tuscaloosa dismissed a robbery case against Baltimore Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey.

TUSCALOOSA, AL - Tuscaloosa County District Judge Joanne Jannik dismissed a case against current Baltimore Ravens player and former Hoover High School and University of Alabama football star Marlon Humphrey Friday. Humphrey appeared in court Thursday afternoon on robbery charges, accused of stealing a mobile phone charger from an Uber driver January 13 in Tuscaloosa.

Humphrey was arrested Jan. 25 after the driver accused him of stealing a $15 cord. He has denied the accusation through his attorney, who said “he has 11 million reasons” to not steal anything. His lawyer was referring to a giant signing bonus Humphrey received after being a first-round draft pick by the Ravens.

According to a report by the Tuscaloosa News, the driver gave Humphrey a ride from the Strip to the Hotel Capstone around 2 a.m. Jan. 13. He told UA Police that Humphrey borrowed his charger, but refused to return it when they arrived at hotel, saying he “balled up his fist and acted like he wanted to fight.”

The judge found that there was not enough evidence proving Humphrey knowingly took possession of the charger, as witnesses refuted the Uber driver's account of the incident.
