Woodfin To Officially Launch Re-Election Campaign
Mayor Randall Woodfin will officially launched his bid for re-electyion for the Birmingham mayor's seat Jan. 30.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — To the surprise of few people who follow Birmingham politics, Mayor Randall Woodfin will soon officially launched his bid to seek re-election as Birmingham's mayor. Woodfin had already started raising funds for his campaign, but will make his intentions official at the end of the month.
Birmingham's municipal elections take place Aug. 24.
Woodfin is kicking off his re-election campaign with a Drive-In Campaign Kickoff on Saturday, January 30 at George Ward Park.

The event will adhere to COVID-19 regulations with social distancing and face coverings as mandated by the state.

- The event will be COVID-19 safe. Wear your mask and social distance if you get out of your car.
- You can listen to the event on your car radio if you are on-site, and the campaign is encouraging people to stay in their cars.
- Big cars in the back, smaller cars in the front, so everyone can see
- An overflow area will be available so that people can sit/stand if the parking lot gets too full.
Woodfin, who previously worked as an attorney and served on the Birmingham Board of Education, is in his first term as mayor.
Thus far, Woodfin already faces two challengers in the mayoral race.
Jefferson County Commission President Pro Tempore LasShunda Scales and local construction executive Chris Woods launched their campaigns last week.
