Arrest Made in Bluff Park Shooting

A Georgia man is in custody for his involvement in a Jan. 6 shooting at a Bluff Park apartment complex.

HOOVER, AL — A Georgia man has been arrested in connection with a Jan. 6 shooting at a Bluff Park apartment complex. Emmanuel Dion Leonard of Stone Mountain, Ga., was arrested Friday by members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

A report by the Hoover Police Department said the shooting occurred just after 9:30 p.m. near the 100 building at The Park at Wakefield and Wellington apartments. Police said a man was found lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds and was transported to UAB Hospital.

Detectives determined that the shooting took place during a drug deal. After gathering evidence at the scene and speaking with the victim and additional witnesses, Leonard was charged with attempted murder and robbery.
