🌱 Bluff Park Sidewalk Extension + Children’s Lighthouse Water Drive

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Hoover.

Hi all. It's me, Miranda Fraraccio, your host of the Hoover Daily — here to tell you all the most important things happening in the community today. Here goes.

First, today's weather:

A p.m. t-storm in spots. High: 89 Low: 73.

Here are the top three stories today in Hoover:

  1. On Monday, the Hoover City Council approved a $288,000 contract for the Bluff Park sidewalk extension. The contract was awarded to Gillespie Construction, which will have 120 days to complete the quarter-mile sidewalk. According to Assistant City Engineer Blake Miller, the sidewalk will be an extension of an existing sidewalk on Maiden Lane, continuing the sidewalk from Savoy Street 1,300 feet to the south to Cloudland Drive. (Hoover Sun)
  2. Children's Lighthouse used its field day to collect thousands of water bottles for Hoover schools. Both students and teachers participated in the community-focused event, which collected a total of 2,970 bottles which were sent to Trace Crossings, Riverchase, Gwin, South Shades Crest, and Green Valley Elementary Schools. Dr. Ira Lee Sullivan, the owner of Children's Lighthouse, said the water drive was a great way to teach the students about community outreach and the importance of philanthropy. (WBRC)
