HOOVER, AL - A former Hoover police officer, who earlier this year was involved in an incident in which his gun discharged in his home and injured his wife, has now been arrested and charged with domestic violence. Jason Bragg McIntosh, 44, was taken into custody early Sunday.

A report by Alabama Media Group said Hoover police responded at 12:31 a.m. Sunday to a home in the 2300 block of Village Center Street on a report of a domestic altercation. After interviewing both parties, it was determined that a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation.

Authorities said McIntosh’s wife, whose name has not been disclosed, sustained scrapes and red marks but refused medical attention. McIntosh was taken into custody and charged with third-degree domestic violence. He was transported to the Hoover City Jail without incident and was released at 1:54 a.m. Monday after posting $1,000 bond.

McIntosh was involved in an investigation in February during which his gun discharged in his home and his wife sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to UAB hospital with injuries.

McIntosh called 911 following the February incident and said he and his spouse were involved in a domestic incident and were wrestling over a handgun when it fired, according to state investigators. He was placed on leave pending the outcome of that investigation but later resigned.
