Fundraiser Launched For Family Of Galleria Shooting Victim

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help with funeral expenses for Zachariah Taylor Music, who was shot and killed Wednesday.

HOOVER, AL - The victim killed in a shooting at Riverchase Galleria on Wednesday was a 20-year-old University of Alabama at Birmingham student. Now, Zach Music's family is facing the horror that he is dead.

Zachariah Taylor Music, 20, was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in the north parking deck of the Galleria. He was pronounced dead on the scene when police arrived.

Music's parents, Jill and Scott Frew, now have to plan for their son's funeral. The couple have dedicated their lives to helping others in the first responders/EMS field, and now friends of the family have started a GoFundMe campaign to help the Frews with funeral expenses, with a $5,000 goal.

"No parent should ever have to make the decisions and plans that they are having to make at this time for a child," the GoFundMe page reads. "Please consider making a donation to support them with upcoming expenses during this time and of course your prayers and thoughts are incredibly appreciated!!!"

"As a campus community, we mourn Zach’s passing," said UAB officials in a statement. "UAB offers counseling services to students, faculty and staff and encourages anyone struggling with this tragic loss to take advantage of those resources."

There is not suspect in the case, but police say they believe the shooting was not random.
