Hoover Student Charged After Threatening Message
A student who sent a threatening message to another student has been charged with making harassing communications.
HOOVER, AL — A student in the Hoover school system has been charged by Hoover police after sending a threatening message to a fellow student. The 15-year-old student has been charged with making harassing communications.
On August 13, Hoover Police were made aware of a Riverchase Career Connection Center (RC3) student that received a message via iPhone AirDrop that caused them to be alarmed. The message reportedly said, "Tomorrow all chocolate kids will die."
School officials, SROs, and detectives launched an investigation and interviewed several witnesses. One of those individuals, a 15-year-old sophomore, confessed to sending the threatening message.

"This threat was taken seriously and an investigation began immediately; the investigation has now concluded," Hoover City Schools said in a statement. "In working alongside the Hoover Police Department, we have determined there is no credible safety threat to our students, and the incident was not racially motivated."
"Although the threat never appeared to be credible, it caused a significant disruption in school activities, with some parents electing not to send their children to school," said a statement by the Hoover PD.
