September 17, 2026 (birminghamtimes.com) — Several legal notices confirm completion of major HVAC and equipment projects for Hoover City Schools, including Spain Park High School and Hoover Hall, and invite any remaining claims. Hoover residents also get details on an abandoned-vehicle sale at Long-Lewis Ford on John Hawkins Parkway, plus numerous upcoming bid opportunities, hearings, and public meetings across the Birmingham-Hoover area.
   

2. ALDOT announces nightly I-459 ramp closures in Hoover during resurfacing project (abc3340.com) — Overnight ramp closures on I-459 in Hoover begin Sept. 20, affecting key entrances and exits between SR-150 and U.S. 31 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on select nights through mid-October. ALDOT urges drivers to plan alternate routes, especially using SR-150, as the 3.2-mile resurfacing project continues toward a projected spring 2027 completion.
   

3. Hoover lands Alabama's first HomeSense in Riverchase Crossings deal (al.com) — New HomeSense and Shoe Dept. stores are set to fill the long-vacant Big Lots space at Riverchase Crossings in Hoover, bringing Alabama's first HomeSense to 1773 Montgomery Highway. Backed by a Hoover City Council tax rebate of up to $1.9 million, the redevelopment aims to boost sales tax revenue, create jobs, and draw more shoppers to the area.
   

4. Bucs run past Oak Mountain, Jags fall at Vestavia (hooversun.com) — Hoover High's football team exploded for 602 yards of offense in a 59-13 region win over Oak Mountain, with a balanced attack and a key defensive score. Spain Park, meanwhile, fell 30-7 at Vestavia Hills despite a strong rushing night from CJ Davis, leaving both Hoover city programs 3-2 overall heading into open dates and non-region play.
