1. 40 restaurants fail health inspections in August (wbrc.com) — Several Hoover spots, including Golden Corral, Ross Bridge Grocery, Dessert Corner, Bawarchi Indian Cuisine and Asher Point Independent Living, recently failed Jefferson County health inspections with scores below 85. Inspectors cited issues like unsafe food temperatures, sewage problems, pests and sanitizer lapses, though some locations have already improved on reinspection. Check the detailed scores before choosing where to eat or shop.

2. September 3, 2026 (birminghamtimes.com) — Hoover residents are notified that HVAC and equipment replacement projects for Hoover City Schools, including Spain Park High School and Hoover Hall, have been completed and are moving toward final settlement, with any claims needing prompt filing. The legal notices also flag upcoming bids, public hearings, and infrastructure work across the Birmingham metro that could affect schools, airports, courts and floodplain maps. It's a dense but important roundup of government and construction actions.

3. Woman Arrested After 70-Year-Old Dies after Hoover Pool Incident (abc3340.com) — Hoover police arrested 30-year-old resident Anastasia Tsefia Sudarsana after a 70-year-old woman was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at a community pool on Little Valley Road. Investigators say evidence pointed to a physical struggle, and the case is now being treated as a homicide, with a no-bond murder warrant issued while the coroner determines the official cause of death.

4. Broad Metro acquires 65 acres for Stadium Trace Village Phase Three (hooversun.com) — A major expansion of Stadium Trace Village is moving forward after Broad Metro bought the final 65 acres needed for Phase Three in Hoover, clearing the way for more shops, offices, and luxury residences. The Hoover City Council has already approved Phase Two, and this latest land deal cements the project's continued growth, though no construction timeline has been announced yet.

5. Alabama Adventure Owner Daniel Koch Arrested in Hoover on Domestic Violence Strangulation Charge After Police Say He Tried to Choke His Girlfriend (parktelegraph.com) — Hoover police arrested Alabama Adventure owner Daniel Koch after responding to a Sept. 2 domestic violence call on Jessup Lane, where investigators say evidence showed he tried to choke his girlfriend.
