Shots Fired At Hoover Police Officer After ATM Theft
Hoover police responded to a burglary in progress at Walgreens, located at 5271 Ross Bridge Parkway at approximately 2:25 a.m. July 12.. An alarm company received an activation at the business and observed three black male suspects on video taking an ATM and loading it onto a flatbed truck. A Hoover Police officer in the area got behind the vehicle and attempted to stop it on John Hawkins Parkway.
One of the suspects in the truck fired multiple shots at the officer, with at least one round striking his vehicle. The officer, who was not injured, lost sight of the suspects after they continued fleeing with their headlights off. Other responding officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned on Highway 150 near the intersection of Pyne Drive with the ATM still in the bed of the truck.
