  1. On September 11, the Redstone Harley-Davidson plans their first annual “Poker Run- Ride for Kids’ Sake.” This benefit ride will be to help the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley. (themadisonrecord.com)
  2. 106 Jefferson has finally opened in downtown Huntsville. This Hilton hotel is the city’s first lifestyle hotel. (WHNT)
  3. The Huntsville-Madison Public Library has teamed up with HATCH to open a coffee shop in South Huntsville at the library! The cafe will be run by students of HATCH’s workforce training program and is set to start having students work on August 16. (WZDX)
  4. A 25-year-old man is being charged with felony rape after allegedly posing as a ride-share driver and forcing himself on young women. Be careful when accepting ride-shares to make sure you’re getting into the right car in Huntsville! Apps give you details about the vehicle’s make and model, as well as the license plate and the driver’s name. (WHNT)
  5. A back-to-school block party at Brookins Smoken On The Go over the weekend raised money and school supplies for kids in the area that need them. The donations went to Special Programming for Achievement Network (SPAN) of Alabama. Donations can still be dropped off at the restaurant or can be taken directly to the SPAN Office of Madison County office. (WAFF)
