Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Governor Ivey has announced three road expansion projects in the Huntsville area. I-565 will be widened from County Line Road (Exit 7) to Wall Triana (Exit 9), Highway 72 will be expanded between Providence and Nance Road, and Highway 53 will be expanded between Taurus Road and Harvest Road. The State will cover 60% of the overall cost and the City of Huntsville, City of Madison, and Madison County Commission will be responsible for the other 40%. (WAAY)
  2. UAH was approved for phase one of their new engineering building. Governor Ivey signed the appropriations bill Thursday that proves $18 million for the project. The College of Business (COB) received a $1.5 million donation from Bryant Bank. This is one of the biggest donations the COB has seen, and the money will be used to create a new non-endowed scholarship for business students. (WAAY,Patch)
  3. Warren Hardy, the man on trial for a 2016 murder, was found guilty yesterday. He is awaiting a sentence recommendation between life in prison and death from the jury. (WAAY)
  4. Highway 72’s nighttime resurfacing project is set to start Tuesday if weather permits. The project will resurface the road from County Line to Research Park Boulevard. Work will be from 6 p.m-6 a.m. (WHNT)
