Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Huntsville is receiving $34.4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to help the city bounce back from the pandemic. The city’s finance director has broken down five categories of what would be most beneficial for the city to focus on. They will need to submit a plan to the federal government by November 30 for how they will spend the money. (WAAY)
- The Limestone County Redistricting Plan will be voted on Monday, but the NAACP has some concerns. They say that the shift of the black population in District 3 will limit their voice being fairly represented. (WAFF)
- Today and tomorrow, make sure to take advantage of the Earlyworks Halloween Bash! They have managed to make it touch-free, and safe for kids to interact with the vendors and get some candy! (WHNT)
- Students at Madison County Elementary got to experience how amazing it is to live in the Rocket City recently. They wrote postcards that took a ten-minute trip to space and were read by Jeff Bezos before being marked “From Space” and sent back to the students. (WAFF)
- New Century and the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering will get a new program spearheaded by Lockheed Martin and the Space Foundation. The goal of the program is to encourage students to choose a high school path that will lead to a post-secondary and career path in space-focused STEM fields. (Yellowhammer News)
