Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Three were injured in a five-car wreck yesterday morning on County Line Road in Madison, including one sheriff’s deputy. County Line Road was shut down for a while around the Palmer Road intersection. (WAAY)
- The Madison County Commission has approved a pay raise for all of their full-time employees! The raise is to keep up with the cost of living and will be an 8.6% increase. (WAFF)
- Opening arguments started yesterday to start the process of reinstating a lawsuit filed by University of Alabama in Huntsville students regarding freedom of speech. A student was denied the right to speak on an issue he believes affects all students, and UAH says that requires a three-day notice. I’ll keep you updated on this as it takes shape. (WHNT News 19)
- The City of Madison is looking to transition to a new style of government. As of now, they have a mayor-city administrator style, which means the mayor chooses the city administrator alone. The new style would be more of a city council-city manager type, which would mean along with the mayor, there are six other people vetting candidates for the position and chosen candidates would need appropriate credentials.
