Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Alabama State and Drake State have been selected as two of six colleges in the country to receive minority grants from NASA. The grants will be used to expand minority engineering and research. (WHNT)
  2. Five institutions, including the Baudry Lab at UAH, have been chosen to receive research funding. They will be working to find drug therapies to target COVID-19. (Yellowhammer News)
  3. UAH has released their list of Employee Service Recognition Awards. These awards are to reward faculty and staff when they reach employment milestones. (Patch)
  4. An inmate was mistakenly released from Madison County Saturday after allegedly posing as another inmate, but turned himself in Sunday. An internal investigation is underway to find out how the release happened. (AL.com)
  5. UAH is offering $20 to any student that gets vaccinated. If a student updates their vaccination record online or gets their vaccine on campus by September 1, they will receive $20 in dining dollars. (WZDX)
