Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. The 2021 Stars Dancing for HEALS ended up being a sold out event! The money raised last night will go towards giving school children free healthcare. I’ll be sure to update you if they release how much they were able to raise! (WAAY)
  2. Athens Police typically have a strict rule about having a clean-shaven face. However, they’re making a special exception for No Shave November to raise money for Bert Bradford, a city employee whose daughter was recently diagnosed with bone cancer. Officers can pay $25 to be allowed to grow their beard out for the month, and the money will go to hdlp Bradford’s daughter. (WAAY)
  3. Parents spoke and protested at last night’s Madison City School Board meeting. They want special education classrooms to have cameras installed after some allegations of mistreatment of special needs students. The school system is currently investigating the concerns. (WAFF)
  4. The Red Cross is hosting blood drives through November 17 all over the Huntsville area. Their donations are currently the lowest they’ve seen at this time of year in over a decade. (Patch)
  5. Alabama Senate Bill 9 was passed by the House and the Senate, but North Alabama was split. According to the Madison County Chamber, bills restricting vaccine mandates could hurt the county’s economy because of federal contract money that relies on following federal mandates. Check out how your House and Senate members voted (House, Senate). (AL Daily News)
