Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- The Space and Rocket Center is expecting around 3000 visitors this morning for the Artemis I launch party! With that turnout from people across the country to the Rocket City, visitors are recommended to carpool if possible, since the rocket won’t wait for us to park and get inside! Make sure to get there early so you don’t miss the main event. (WHNT News 19)
- Routine maintenance will close Fiber Street off of Wheeler Avenue from 8-12 this morning. Because of this, the Madison County Pistol Permit Office will be closed until 12:30 this afternoon. (WHNT News 19)
- Athens High School students are set to head back to the classroom this morning. The school has been checked thoroughly and any issues found have been remedied and the building has been deemed safe and ready to go. (WAAY 31)
- The Huntsville City Council has certified municipal election results! There will be two runoff races: District 2 City Council and District 3 Board of Education. Those elections will be held September 20. (Patch Press Release Desk)
