Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Huntsville Police K-9 Aero has retired after five years of service. He will spend his retirement with his handler, Officer Smith. (WHNT)
  2. Wilson Plastic Surgery broke ground on their new location in the new Lendon Commercial District. The new facility will be rebranded as Huntsville Plastic Surgery and will be the state’s only location for plastic surgery with a certificate of need, so they can serve cosmetic and insured surgeries. (WHNT)
  3. The UAH College of Business held a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday to celebrate the opening of their new state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Lab. The new lab will allow the university to educate students in cybersecurity and keep up with the industry’s growing demand. (Patch)
  4. Athens City Hall will reopen today after being closed due to several employees and their family members tested positive for COVID. City Hall has been closed since August 9, but no additional employees have tested positive. (Quad Cities Daily)
  5. The National Weather Service has said that the survey after Wednesday’s storms showed that there was a gustnado, not a tornado, that went through Athens. Gustnadoes are not connected with cloud-based rotations but can still cause damage. (Yahoo!)
