Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. A Huntsville woman was arrested for allegedly killing her two-year-old daughter. The woman is accused of drowning the child in a bathtub filled with “cold water and olive oil.” She led the police on a brief chase and is now being held in the Madison County Jail with no bond. (AL.com)
  2. Biergarten is back in the Rocket City! Starting Thursday, you can head to the Space and Rocket Center for German food, drinks, music, and fun. There will be a $5 charge for anyone 5 and over this year to help offset expenses. (WHNT News 19)
  3. The Rocket City Playwrights’ Series is coming back this month. Tickets are available today for the event, which is set to start August 20 at Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment’s Studio Theatre. (WHNT News 19)
  4. A three-year-old drowned at the Hampton House Pool Friday. The child was taken to Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. The Swim for Melissa event set for Saturday at that pool was canceled out of respect, and swimmers will be contacted with an update. (WHNT News 19)
