Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Alabama A&M University was one of over a dozen historically black colleges and universities (HCBU) across the country to receive bomb threats over the past two days. The threat was a hoax and did not interrupt classes. The FBI is involved. (WIAT)
  2. Fantasy Playhouse is kicking off their season with “Alice in Wonderland” for their 61st season. Shows will run from February 18-20 and masks are required. (themadisonrecord.com)
  3. The James A. Lane Boys & Girls Club received a free solar power system that will be able to give them power to any part inside the building. This is the first Boys and Girls location to be partially powered by solar panels anywhere in the country. (WHNT)
  4. Have you seen a Change.org petition to reinstate Coach Shelby Hunter at Grissom High School? I’ve been keeping an eye on it, and as of writing, the petition has over 6,600 signatures and many stories of the impact this teacher has made. He is currently on administrative leave (unconfirmed by HCS), but the school system would not confirm any details with WHNT. (Change.org, WHNT)
  5. The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library has opened submissions for Blast, their local online streaming platform. The submission deadline is March 4. (WAAY)
