Botanical Garden Summer Plans - Ditto Landing Upgrade

Happy Monday, Huntsville! It’s Amy here to start your week off with the biggest and best news and events for today! In today’s Daily, we will look at something new coming to Ditto Landing, Rocket City Mom’s latest competition, and what the Botanical Garden has planned for this summer!

- A new trail is in the works at Ditto Landing, and is planned to open just in time for summer. It is going to link up with Aldridge Creek Greenway, and eventually should extend all the way to Elgie’s Walk Greenway to create a 12-mile loop. (WHNT)
- None of the universities in the North Alabama area are requiring ACT or SAT scores. Some, like UNA, are also being lenient on the GPA requirements due to the pandemic. (WAAYTV)
- 13-year-old Florence teen Abbygail Moody was found Saturday in Tyler, Texas. The alleged kidnapper, Daniel Dylan Skipworth, has been charged with several crimes related to the kidnapping and is still being held in the Smith County Jail. (WAFF)
- Even with restrictions making this year’s Castin’ ‘N Catchin’ Tournament look different, with no food trucks, spectators, or games, the fundraiser still had a record number of boats enter the competition. This was the sixth annual competition, and in those few years, the group has been able to raise over $650,000 for research and awareness for congenital heart defects. (WHNT)
- Rocket City Mom has announced a World’s Okayest Mom contest, because most moms don’t feel like the best mom in the world during the pandemic. They are accepting entries until May 7, and the winner will receive a World’s Okayest Mom mug and a Nintendo Switch Lite. (RocketCityMom)

- Story time and playgroup with Fit4Mom at Dublin Park (10:30 a.m.)
- Monday movies @ Stovehouse on the Leisure Lawn- the movie will be announced on their Facebook this afternoon (7 p.m.)
- Crafts to go with the Madison Public Library (9 a.m.)
