Calhoun Community College + $1000 Teacher Bonus

Rise and shine, Huntsville! In today's Daily, we're going to look at Calhoun Community College's latest announcement, which school system is giving staff a $1000 bonus, and what the Decatur Fire and Rescue team did Saturday.

Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Dr. Joe Burke, Calhoun Community College’s interim president, will retire. Dr. Burke has spent the past three years leading Calhoun. The school has not said how or when the search for a new president will begin or how. (WHNT)
  2. Employees of Morgan County Schools will receive a $1000 bonus at the end of the school year. Staff has gone above and beyond and has taken on extra duties, so the board is using this as a way to show their appreciation. (WAFF)
  3. Alabama A&M is in the process of building the Alabama A&M Events Center. It is scheduled to be completed in early July, and so far they have not had the issues of inflation to slow the process down. (WAFF)
  4. Decatur Fire and Rescue spent Saturday building beds for children in the community through Sleep in Heavenly Peace. They were also able to raise funds for an additional 30 beds to be built later. (WAAY)
  5. As of June 7, masks will be optional for Madison City and Madison County schools. This will affect summer school within these school systems. (WHNT)
