Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:
- Mayor Battle will be meeting with protesters and community activists in the coming weeks to talk about how to go forward as a united community, according to reporter Grace Campbell. This comes after the 248- page report from the Huntsville Police Advisory Council (HPAC) was released Thursday night. (WAAYTV)
- Activists from all over the state marched to the Madison County Courthouse from Big Spring Park yesterday. According to Keneisha Deas, the goal was to celebrate the outcome of the Chauvin Trial, but also call attention to the issues we have in Huntsville. (WZDX)
- Yulista was awarded a contract for almost $8.5 million to provide certain services to maintain certain F-16 operations and enhance their survivability against electromagnetic threats. The work will be done in Huntsville. (ClearanceJobs)
- Huntsville Police Chief Mark McMurray did not have any specific comments after the HPAC report was released so he would have time to read it before he talked about the recommendations. However, a former Huntsville police chief said that while he was in charge, they had riot and protest training every year. Plans to move forward will be discussed at the city council meeting on April 28. (WAAYTV)
- If you are signed up for your COVID-19 vaccine through Huntsville Hospital and have not received one, visit the new self-scheduler on the website. However, if you have gotten your vaccine somewhere else and get an email from Huntsville Hospital, you do not need to do anything to forfeit your spot. (WZDX)
