Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Hope Presbyterian Church in Huntsville has set up a memorial to honor the 21 victims of the Uvalde shooting. There are 21 empty chairs labeled with a victim’s name. (WHNT)
- The City Of Huntsville presented a midyear budget update at last week's city council meeting. The presentation featured minor adjustments to the budget to reflect the needs of different departments, such as an increase to the fire and rescue budget. - Students in the Athens Mayor’s Youth Commission were given a grant to disburse through their community grant program. They received over $7000 in requests and were given the opportunity to choose which ones to support. The requests that did not make the cut received $125 to support their projects. - Senator Tom Butler presented the ASU Foundation with a $7800 grant. The funds will be used to support the annual Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention in October and the concert series that runs throughout the year. (ASU)
- The 42nd Cotton Row Run is today! The races will take place downtown, so use caution to avoid the race trail if you’re driving downtown. There will be a 10K, a 5K, and a one-mile fun run. (WHNT)
