Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Today, there will be a vigil to honor Congressman John Lewis at Brahan Spring Park. Lift Our Vote’s Co-Founder, Jessica Fortune Barker, is inviting everyone to celebrate Congressman Lewis’s work. (WAFF)
  2. The Huntsville City Schools System is launching the HSC Professional Learning Academy. This initiative would help teach the employees in the school system how to work with more diverse populations, as well as potentially address learning gaps and loss from the pandemic. School employees that successfully could be eligible for a pay raise. (WAFF)
  3. The City Of Huntsville is looking for a full-time Huntsville Music Officer. This position is the first of its kind and would be helping turn the Rocket City into a music city, too! (Patch)
  4. With the population explosion, Huntsville is talking about what infrastructure priorities we have. Topping the list was the I-565 and Memorial Parkway interchange, which has not been changed since it opened in 1991. This part of 565 is operating at twice its designed capacity, but will cost $200 million to upgrade. The goal is to start the process before the roadway fails instead of being reactive. (WHNT)
