Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. The Madison County Commission has expanded the Emergency Rental Assistance to allow individuals from the city to apply. The assistance can also now be used to reimburse for utilities. (WHNT)
  2. Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama is looking for mentors. They are in desperate need of new mentors for over 100 kids that are currently waiting for a Big. (WAAY)
  3. The 160-year-old oak tree in front of Madison United Methodist will be cut down. Much to the dismay of the congregation, the tree is very unhealthy and is not able to be left up. (themadisonrecord.com)
  4. Two building permits were approved in Huntsville that will total $43 million. The new construction will be at the Redstone Gateway. (AL.com)
  5. Huntsville City Councilman Bill Kling is planning to suggest that the city should double the road resurfacing budget for 2022 fiscal year. This would make the budget around $20 million, and would be to focus on fixing current roads instead of adding new roads. (WHNT)
