Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- The body cam footage in the murder trial against William Darby has been released. WHNT has a copy that has been censored for curse words and has Parker’s body blurred out after the event, but according to Brian Lawson at WHNT, has not been altered beyond that. (WHNT)
- Governor Ivey has reallocated $12.3 million to aid in coronavirus relief to hospitals in the state, including the Tennessee Valley area. Huntsville Hospital’s CEO has explained that the employee shortage is now dire. The money will allow out-of-state nurses to come alleviate the stress in the state and allow Huntsville Hospital to help treat everyone in the area. (WAAY)
- The Home Depot stores in the Huntsville area are working together with another location in Auburn to put together disaster relief kits. They plan to send 1000 kits to help Alabama residents affected by Hurricane Ida. (WHNT)
- The mask mandate set for Madison County Schools that went into effect August 12 expired yesterday. The decision on whether to extend it should be released before next week’s classes start. (WAFF)
- Huntsville Animal Services is hosting a two-day ice cream social to introduce locals to pets in need. Adoption fees are lowered and you can go today between 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (WHNT)
