  1. Decatur High School teacher Wes Tomlinson was named a 2021 Yale Educator Award. Tomlinson was nominated by a former student, Christian Bailey, who won a full ride to Yale and chose to nominate his former teacher. (Yahoo)
  2. Curbside recycling is back in Athens! It will be every other Monday, depending on which side of US-31 you are on. (WHNT)
  3. With the Legislative Special Session about prisons finished, Limestone County is looking at some changes. The prison will be renovated during phase two of the prison system overhaul. (WSFA)
  4. North Alabama is gearing up for deer season, but the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries is monitoring a disease outbreak that has started being reported. If you see a deer that appears to have the symptoms, reach out to the organization to report it. Make sure the deer you plan to eat do not have any diseases that could make you sick. (WHNT)
  5. The new Alabama State Fiddling Champion was crowned over the weekend at a competition at Athens State University. A fiddle off decided that Justin Branum of Murfreesboro was the top prize winner of the competition. (WHNT)
