- Kelsey Cooper, a teacher at Discovery Middle School, was named the National Milken Outstanding Educator Award. She is one of only 60 teachers in the country to receive this award along with the $25,000 check that comes with it. (WHNT)

- Huntsville Hospital’s Canines for Coping program was given $30,000 by Dunkin' Donuts. The two dogs that make up the program currently, Asteroid and Orbit, are full-time employees of the hospital with 40-hour work weeks. (WHNT)
