Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- The ground-breaking ceremony for Huntsville’s new federal courthouse is set for September 19 at 10:30 a.m. U.S. Senator Richard Shelby will be in attendance. This new courthouse will take the place of the courthouse on Holmes Avenue that was built in 1932. (Yellowhammer News)
- Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater in Huntsville will offer their Fall Break Camp again this year after two years away! The camp will run October 3-7 and will cost $225 per child. Ages 5-15 are welcome and will be broken up by age group. (WHNT News 19)
- Beer and Wine Fest is headed back to the Rocket City this year at Toyota Field on October 22! For $35 ahead of time or $45 at the gate, you get three hours of unlimited drink samples. They will also offer specialty tickets ahead of time for a VIP experience ($75) or a painting class ($55). (WHNT News 19)
- AshaKiran, Inc. has received a grant of nearly $50,000. They will use the money to provide services for domestic violence situations by educating shelters and first responders on dealing with victims that aren’t from the U.S. originally. They currently offer crisis support in 45 languages and have culturally-specific services to fit needs that might otherwise not be met. (WHNT News 19)
