Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Huntsville warming centers are set to open later this week with the weather expected to dip into the 20s. They will be at the Salvation Army on Seminole Drive and Downtown Rescue Mission on Evangel Drive. Huntsville police officers will be able to take you to a one of those locations as weather permits and you can also get a free ride with Huntsville Transit to and from the warming centers. (WAFF)
  2. Two individuals were caught cutting the fence to allegedly attempt to break into the Madison County Jail. According to investigators, the individuals were caught with tools, a gun, and several contraband items, including a phone and meth. Both young men are facing several charges. The jail has taken additional security precautions at this time. (WAAY)
  3. The Huntsville City Football Club has officially signed their first player! Isaiah Johnston is a 20-year-old midfielder from Ontario, Canada. He's coming to us from the Canadian Premiere League, where he played 53 professional games over the past three seasons. (AL.com)
  4. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the string of armed robberies last week. He has been charged with two counts of first degree robbery for the incident at the Dollar General on Nance Road and is being held without bond. You can check out my original post here. (AL.com)
