Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. July 2022 is currently tied for the third-hottest month on record in Huntsville. First is August 2007 had an average of 85.7 degrees, August 2010 is second with 84.7, and July 1930 and July 2022 are tied at 83.9 degrees. This could change, with five days left in the month! (WHNT News 19)
  2. Huntsville city magistrate Daniel Cranor has pleaded not guilty to the menacing charges (see June 18 Daily). He is still currently on administrative leave ahead of a bench trial that is scheduled for August 16 at 2:30 p.m. (WRBL)
  3. Huntsville Animal Services is waiving adoption fees on most adult animals through August 6. As always, there are exclusions to the deal, and none of their young animals are included. Make sure you head in during their business hours and take the time to find your new furry friend! (WHNT News 19)
  4. According to Decatur City Schools, they have yet to have 1,896 of their expected students enroll. Returning students still must enroll with InfoSnap, but new students will need to go to the Enrollment Office on 4th Avenue. (Decatur City Schools - Alabama)
